My MCLE at ACLEx

Hello, fellow lawyers! It’s Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) season once again! Are you done and now fully compliant?

Remember!!! Deadline of the 6th compliance period is just around the corner (April 14, 2019). To avoid the rush and prevent the inconveniences brought about by last minute registration on MCLE programs, do it as early as now!

Back in 2015, I enrolled in Chan Robles LawNet, Inc.  for my 5th Compliance. It was held in Bro. Andrew Gonzales Multi-Purpose Hall near De La Salle University. I checked again their website but found out that their venue is now at SM Megatrade Conference Center. I personally prefer a small group of participants so I could concentrate and intently listen to the lectures (haha). So I searched for other providers…

I chanced upon ACLEx as I was casually browsing the internet one lazy afternoon. ACLEx stands for Asian Center for Legal Excellence. First, I checked their upcoming schedule. Next, I checked the venue. MCLE Lecture Series 59 was perfect for me!

I checked my calendar and the dates (October 10, 11, 16 & 17, 2018) were free! Plus, it will be held at B Hotel in Quezon City!

I used to work with Megawide Construction Corporation, the general contractor of B Hotel. The architect brought me there one time and showed me the unique design of the hotel. It was in April 2016 when I paid a visit and it was not fully completed that time.

The pool was very inviting especially it was almost summer at the time this picture was taken.

The bar was closed. I would have loved to order a refreshing drink… at high noon!

And so, I took my MCLE at ACLEx.

HIGHLIGHTS OF MY MCLE

On Day 1, guess who I had the pleasure of meeting again? It was a delight seeing Judge Marjorie Uyengco-Nolasco!

I met Judge Jing when I was still working with the Philippine Judicial Academy (PhilJA) in the Supreme Court. She has impressive credentials and a strong legal background. Truly an inspiring lawyer mommy! Thanks, Judge Jing for all the learnings I gained today. Keep on shining!

On my fourth and last day, our final lecturer was Judge Rosalina Luna Pison.

I again met Judge Pison during my stint in PhilJA. I truly admire her dedication in teaching law and her passion in advocating the rights of women and children. We had the chance to talk for a while before her lecture and she shared a lot of surprising news to me. Judge Pison is a real strong, admirable woman. May you continue to share your extensive knowledge of the law for anyone ALWAYS has a lot to gain from a learned legal professional like you. Thank you po!

Other highlight of that day was meeting my former law professors Atty. Mario Valderrama and Atty. Aliakhbar Jumrani. I approached Atty. Jumrani and expressed my gratitude for being a part of my journey to becoming a lawyer. We are now FB friends (haha)! I didn’t get a chance to talk to Atty. Valderrama though. There’s always a next time.

Overall, the conduct of the MCLE provided by ACLEx is commendable. It was well-organized. There was wide variety of food for everyone. The organizers were friendly and accommodating. The line-up of lecturers was relatively good. I  have gained a lot of new learnings and I am certain that I am better equipped than before. Thanks to my company, IEE, for the usual support.

For my fellow lawyers who are still not decided where to get their MCLE, you can try registering at ACLEx. The venue, however, for the next series will be not be in QC but will be in Makati. Check out their website or call the numbers shown below for complete details.
