A Letter to my Daughters

To my dear daughters Juliana and Calia,

I am writing this inside the plane while flying above the clouds. As I stare at the majestic view outside my window, I cannot help but think of how I miss the two of you… So much that I decided to write this letter for you.

First, I want to say not a thank you, but “You’re welcome.”

Bringing you into this world was not of my own making. It was the Lord’s orchestration that brought you into my life. It was faith and a lot of prayers that paved the way for you to meet me as your mother. It was beyond my human powers to choose you as my daughter. Heck, I didn’t even know I would be blessed with a sweet and beautiful daughter, and two at that! That was not my decision to make. It was all Him who made you and brought you into my own little world. At that time, I chose to take care of you as you slowly grew inside my belly. And for that, you are very much welcome. I will take care of you for as long as I can. That I promise you.

Second, I want to acknowledge the pure joy and satisfaction that you make me feel being your mother.

You are beautiful in your own way. You are talented in many aspects. You are both unique in expressing your thoughts, feelings and actions. As your mother, I can proudly say I know you from head to toe. I can easily see if you’re upset, bothered,  excited and sorry. I know how to handle both of you when you have tantrums once in a while. I actually see a lot of myself in you. You are partly me and a portion of your daddy. It is this combination that makes you unique. And I am proud of who you are and who you will become someday. Remember that.

Third, I want you to extend more patience in me.

It is not easy to become your mother. I am not a saint. I am not a superhero. I have my own limits. I also suffer bad days once in a while. There are times I reach the end of it and I explode. I may have uttered hurtful words or caused you pain during those times. For that, I am sorry. I cannot promise that it won’t happen again but I will do my best to stretch my patience a whole lot more. Please remember that in moments like these, I also need your understanding and consideration. Give and take, as they said.

Lastly, I want to thank you for being you.

You both are growing more and more beautiful each day, not just on the outside but also on the inside. You keep on growing to be better versions of yourself each day. I am witness to how you instantly brighten up a room and put a smile to others’ faces by just simply being you. Your smile, laughter and talents are truly remarkable. Thank you for listening to Mommy and Daddy most of the time. Haha. We will not get tired of showing care, love and support to both of you.

My darling daughters, Juliana and Calia, I love you from the bottom of my heart. You do not know how much you make Mommy proud and blessed. You are the reason I have a smile on my face. You are the reason I can do almost anything. You inspire me to become better everyday. I may not say this often but through this letter, I hope you will realize how much my world revolves in you. You may feel at some point that everyone has turned against you but you have a Mommy that will ALWAYS be behind you, every step of the way. Hugs and kisses!!!
